Erdgan says UN needs major reform to fulfill duties
Erdogan stated, “It is our collective duty to make the UN a platform representing global justice, especially in response to atrocities against Palestinians.” He highlighted the need to strengthen the organization with the same resolve shown by its founders, ensuring it can promote global peace, prosperity, mutual trust, and solidarity into the future.
Reaffirming Türkiye’s support for reform initiatives, including the UN 80 Initiative led by the Secretary-General, Erdogan said Ankara is committed to actively participating in efforts to make the UN more effective, efficient, and financially robust. He also reiterated calls to reform the UN Security Council, saying, “The world is greater than five” and stressing that “a fairer world is possible.”
Erdogan urged member states to take immediate action to restore the UN as a beacon of hope for humanity. He also congratulated the organization on its milestone, acknowledging its achievements in promoting peace, security, and international cooperation since its founding in 1945, and extended his best wishes for a future of progress and prosperity.
